We were told you shouldn’t come, you were told not to come, you were told to come two by two, we allowed you outside and finally inside, we became a middle tier, then a top tier, we went underwater and finally, as of Thursday we have to tell you not to come.
The club has not only seen the effects of a pandemic, but in recent days has yet again succumbed to the elements, sustaining the highest flood levels ever seen. This year has been a huge challenge for everyone involved at the club, and to ensure our long term viability we have had to make some difficult decisions and changes. We have been overwhelmed by the continued support of our members, who have, where it has been possible, continued with their memberships throughout the entire year. Thank you to everyone who has supported the club, and especially to those volunteers who yet again turned out this morning to help clear the grounds following the recent flooding.
So, it is with sadness that yet again we must shut our doors and close the club from Thursday 5th November. We hope that many of you will continue to support the club, and help us to remain in a strong position going forward. The Board and The Club Team are committed to ensuring that once we have come through this “unprecedented” time, our club will yet again become the beacon of the community and the social hub many of us remember.
During the next month we will continue to provide virtual fitness classes for all our members and we will re-open facilities at the first opportunity.
For those that pay via Direct Debit, your November payment has been taken as we have been unable to stop it due to the late announcement of the closures. The options for memberships over the next month are detailed below-
Continue with your membership
As before many of you kindly continued your memberships. If you wish to do this then no further action is required. We will endeavour to provide you with a broad range of virtual fitness classes and will again have gym equipment ready for you to borrow.
Freeze your membership
If you wish to freeze your membership YOU MUST EMAIL US to let us know of your intention. For annual members, we will extend your renewal date by a further month, for those on direct debit, we will not take any payment for December.

For those who have already emailed Nicola, you need take no further action and only contact us if you do not receive a receipt by the 12th November.
All pre-paid coaching sessions between 4th November and 1st December will be refunded in due course. Block Bookings will be extended for the first four weeks after the 2nd May 2021 and any further weeks beyond this will be credited. Pre booked courts beyond 4th November will be refunded to your member’s account. Pre-Paid Personal Training sessions can be used once the club reopens.
At this time we hope to reopen when the national lockdown measures are relaxed on the 2nd December, and all frozen memberships will be reactivated from this date.
If you are wishing to borrow gym equipment, we will issue details shortly of how to do this.
Thanks to a team of volunteers today, the outdoor courts are now open and can be used until close tomorrow, with the exception of Court 9 which has suffered some flood damage. Please note that the grounds staff will not be available to squeegee the courts as they will be busy clearing the site and the indoor courts. The equipment has been washed and is sanitised and ready for use by the members if needed.
Pandemic, Covid, Social Distancing, Furlough, Super Spreader, Quarantine, Travel Corridor, Bubble, “Household,” Isolate, Contact Tracing, Flattening of Curves and of course our favourite, Unprecedented… 2020 has created its own dictionary never mind a few challenges along the way. We are not immune to this, and we hope in the not to distant future that we will be able to welcome you all back. Until then, we hope you and your families stay well.
