Aegon Trophy Update – Saturday 24th June 2017

A super busy day with quarter-final rounds remaining following yesterday’s wash out.

Kicking off the quarter final rounds this morning on centre court was Brit wildcard Jay Clarke. Unfortunately his string of successful matches ended here with defeat to Marton Fucsovic 6-3, 6-4.

Also making it through his quarter final was number 3 seed Evgeny Dunskoy who defeated Taylor Fritz 7-6, 6-4 and Sam Groth who fought through to triumph over Bjorn Fratangelo 7-6 6-4. Last to make the semis was Alex Bolt defeating Quentin Halys 6-4, 6-2.

Before the semifinals got underway we saw the men’s double final before between top seeded pair Leander Paes and Adil Shamasdin and British duo Brydan Klein and Joe Salisbury. Paes and shamasdin won a stunning match 2-6, 6-2,10-8.

The women’s singles quarters started the day with wins for Andrea Petkovic over Tatjana Maria 6-3, 6-3; Magdalena Rybarikova over Madison Brengle 6-7, 6-1, 6-2; Marina Erakovic over Maryna Zanevska 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 and for Alison Van Uytvanck whose opponent Maria Sakkari retired at 6-6, 6-4, 3-0.

The semi-finals followed later in the day with Van Uytvanck winning out against Erakovic 6-4, 6-2 and Rybarikova defeating Petkovic 6-3, 6-3.

The women’s doubles final finished the days play with Anna Blinkova and Alla Kudryavtseva taking the title, triumphing over Paula Kania and Marina Zanevska 6-1, 6-4.
