The club offers a variety of opportunities to play tennis on a social basis. Some events run throughout the year, some are summer only and some are winter only....

Ladies Doubles Weekday Rotas
Club Coach Christine Fletcher organises indoor tennis rotas for ladies doubles on a number of days every week. Ladies sign up in advance of each term (usually in line with school terms), and Christine organises a rota of play. The players simply turn up on the days they are set to play and enjoy a game of doubles with players of similar ability. These sessions are ideal for new lady members who may not have a regular playing group or partner. The rotas run throughout the year, and players of all abilities are welcome. Christine organises all the administration and bookings and payment is made to her directly. Contact Christine at the club on 01943 607182 if you would like to play on a rota.

Afternoon Social Doubles, Tuesday & Friday 1.30PM
This is an informal session where a number of our members play doubles each week. There is a regular core group who come down each week, but they are always keen to welcome new players. Simply turn up and play! Ask at the reception and you will be introduced to one of the regular players. Alternatively, you could contact Tony Ackroyd through club reception for details.

Box Leagues
There are Men's and Ladies' Box Leagues in operation.

Players are arranged into boxes of 5 or 6 players. You arrange your match with your fellow players in your box at a mutually convenient time. All matches to be played by a selected date.
The box leagues playing rules and the sign up sheet are on the notice board in the corridor by the Ladies' changing room door.

Wednesday Club Night - From 6:30pm
This is the prime social tennis session with nearly all courts being reserved. There is no need to bring a partner, just turn up and play social doubles. Pairings depend on the mix of players that turn up on the night.

Players change partners and opponents after every set This allows players to have a game with a number of different players throughout the evening. All abilities are welcome. If you are new to the session, ask at reception and they will point you in the right direction.

Ladies Social Daytime Tennis - Tuesday & Thursdays from 10.30am to 12:30pm
Just turn up and play, no charge, all abilities welcome.

Social Tournaments
Other opportunities for members to turn up and play are provided by the social tournaments that are organised in the summer. Don't let the term 'tournament' put you off as the emphasis is on social play rather than being an out and out competitive event.
These tournaments are run along a similar format to the Wednesday Club night, the only difference being that points are collated to find a winner on the day. Like Wednesdays, the ideal arrangement is for an even number of male and female entrants, but that is not essential and pairings may vary between two male players, mixed players, or two ladies.

Whatever the arrangement, the emphasis is on enjoyable social tennis. There are usually four social tournaments over the summer months. The dates are confirmed at the start of the summer season and details are posted at the club and circulated on social tennis nights. The Ladies Weekday Doubles tournaments are geared towards ladies who play on the rotas that are co-ordinated by Christine Fletcher. They are usually held on the first Monday/Tuesday of May, June, July and in mid September and again are organised by Christine.

Wednesday Outdoor Social, from 13 Sep ... (weather permitting) 8.30-10pm on 2 artificial courts - just turn up and play. And indoor social 8.30-10pm, 8 places, nominal charge per person - please book in advance at reception.

Sunday Social Tennis:
Indoor 7.30-10pm, small charge/person - please book in advance at reception.
